WHERE
Escape.
Combining the elements of tranquil living and emotional relaxation, Escape, acts as a temporary social hub and living space for its client and guests. Following the inspiration of Steve Herman’s Glass Pavilion, the exterior features a strongly muted colour palette, clean cut lines and extensive glass windows thus allowing for occupants to comfortably inhabit the space while feeling completely enveloped within their surroundings.
The faces of the structure, their form inspired by the calming process of developing origami, are built upon a strengthening timber frame allowing the structure to appear weightless in its stance. Contrasting the geometric exterior and creating a newly relaxed interior, the integrated furniture flows flawlessly from one face to the next; similar to that of the soothing texture of an ocean polished pebble. Coupled with smoothened concrete walls, Nordgrona Moss is presented as a method of reducing stress and anxiety, a technique often seen in modern places of work, creating an encapsulating space, combining greenery with soft curves resulting in an effortless interior. By using a material this close to nature Escape becomes more that just a home but begins to take the form of a calming sanctuary. Included within the space, the floor, constructed using cork, allows the client to use any free space for Yoga or similar physical activities, the material creating a soft and absorbent surface perfect for relaxation and meditation.
Combining these elements fabricates an atmosphere for the client to enter and immediately feel relaxed and undisturbed. This also results in a stress free, and comfortable escape.
